Why Professional Treatment Is a Necessity for Rodents
Rodents are among the most destructive pests threatening Texas property owners. In homes, they gnaw on any surfaces they come across. They contaminate food, leave smear marks on walls and baseboards, leave droppings and urine wherever they nest, and generally cause a nuisance to everyone in the home. Rodents bring all the same problems to businesses--in addition to destroying inventory, putting customers and employees at risk, and putting your reputation at stake.
Making matters worse, rodents are an extremely difficult problem to completely eradicate. The ability to fully eliminate a rodent infestation requires specific knowledge of where they’re operating and how best to target them. Otherwise, while you may catch some rodents with traps and DIY methods, the infestation itself will continue to go on.
At All-Safe Pest & Termite, we have a long history of keeping homes and businesses safe across the greater Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and Houston, TX area. Using the latest tools and techniques developed in the field, we work to create lasting solutions for property owners that not only eliminate rodents in the present but also prevent them in the future.

What are the signs I have a rodent infestation?
If you see any of these red flags, call our office:
- Chewed wires, furniture, or gnaw marks on wood surfaces.
- Small, pellet-like droppings in corners or along baseboards.
- Rodents leave behind a distinct, strong, and musky odor in their nesting areas.
- Shredded paper, fabric, or other materials used for bedding.
- Oily streaks along walls or floorboards from rodents' fur.
- Visible tracks in dusty or muddy areas of your home.
- Hearing scratching, scurrying, or squeaking sounds, especially at night.
- Rodents often create entry points in walls, floors, or exterior areas.
- Ripped bags or chewed-through containers.
-
Where do rats and mice nest?
Both of these rodents like to nest in attics, but that’s not the only place you’ll find them. Mice especially will nest in a variety of areas, but typically choose secluded spots that have access to nest-building materials and are close to a steady food source.
-
What is the difference between mice and rats?
Mice are typically 2 ½ - 3 ½ inches long, with their tails adding an additional 2 ½ - 4 inches to their total length. Their appearance ranges from light brown to gray, with lighter-colored underbellies. They have pointed noses, small ears, and large, dark eyes.
Rats are larger than mice, ranging from 6-8 inches in length, with their long, hairless tails adding another 6-8 inches to their total body length. They have dark brown or black fur with grey speckles and lighter-colored underbellies. They also have pointed noses and large, dark eyes, while their ears are larger than what mice have.
-
Do rodents carry diseases?
Rodents carry diseases, and they can spread them to humans through their feces, urine, saliva, and bites. What’s more, if they bring parasites inside, such as ticks or mites, the parasites can also spread illnesses to humans. Some of the diseases rodents are known to transmit include rat-bite fever, hantavirus, salmonellosis, tularemia, and more.

What problems do rodents cause in DFW?
The problems caused by mice and rats can range from contamination caused by their urine and feces to damage, the introduction of parasites like fleas and ticks onto your property, and compromised food items. Furthermore, they can cause damage to your home or business's wiring, pipes, insulation, or even the structural wood itself!
Get Rid of Rodents with Help from All-Safe Pest & Termite
Every case is different, and we customize our solutions based on your specific needs.
Our general approach will typically go like this:
Inspection
When our technician arrives, they will complete a thorough inspection of your property, looking for any signs of rodent activity that could indicate an infestation. This includes gnaw marks, rub marks, droppings, and live or dead rodents. We will then look for possible entry points rodents could be using to get inside. Our techs stay alert to conducive conditions that could be attracting rodents, such as firewood on the property, sheds in poor condition, etc.
Quality Rodent Control Treatments
After our initial inspection, we'll install traps in the attic and garage and place rodent bait stations on the exterior, if needed. In DFW, we often deal with roof rats and mice, which often get in from the top or ground level through weep holes and air conditioner units that are not sealed correctly.
If we detect any entry points during the inspection, we will seal them with copper mesh, caulk, and/or metal flashing. In some cases, we use hardware cloth to seal the holes.
Follow-Up
We will return on a weekly basis until we are certain that the entire rodent population in your home is eliminated or excluded. During these return visits, we will check all the traps present, removing any rodents and resetting traps as necessary.
After this visit, we will return when you notify us that a trap has been set off. Trap servicing is part of our rodent control service. Although we do not offer sanitation services, we can offer dependable recommendations on how to prevent future rodent infestations.
